Group Study Exchange District 6400 Ontario/Michigan To District 1630 Belgium/Luxembourg April/May 1993

Team Leader Rotarian: Al Santing - Rotary Club of Windsor St.Clair Member

The Team (Left to Right):
Wiley J. Brown, Trish Eagle, Al Santing, Paula S. Green-Smith, Carol Baldwin, Debra Zawadski

Group Study Exchange team Belgium/Luxembourg was a diversified team representing both us and Canadian members. Team leader Al Santing spoke fluent Flemish and Trish Eagle and Debra Zadwadski spoke fluent French. Both of these languages are official Belgium languages. It enhanced communications a great deal. Many Belgium Rotarians spoke excellent English while being hosted by Rotarians at their homes in Tienen, Aarschot, Westerlo, Geel, Hoogstraten-Kempen, Tongeren, Bilzen-Alden-Biesen Luxembourg.

We were shown many of the sites such as churches, museums and other sites that were well over 1000 years old. We also went to many fine restaurants and enjoyed some wonderful meals that only Belgium chefs could prepare. Ancient cities like Brussels and Brugge were also on our schedule.

This team and the exchange fulfilled Rotary's objective by creating a better understanding and the creation of goodwill for years to come.

Sincerely,

Al Santing
